Corona suggestions...

It's been what, a week, two? since we started locking ourselves down to help limit the spread of corona, take the burden off the NHS and protect ourselves and our loved ones.

You've binge watched everything. Twice. You've caught up on any work and now you're bored.

You wander aimlessly around muttering to yourself.

Well fear not because I have some recommendations for you!

A few books to seek your teeth into
  • Small Great Things, Jodi Picoult - A heartbreaking story about race and the lies we tell ourselves to cope. Truly an amazing story. Have some tissues handy though!
  • The Trouble With Goats and Sheep, Joanna Cannon - A mystery investigated by two 10 year olds that air a community’s dirty laundry, a refreshing take to look through the eyes of a child
  • Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, Gail Honeyman - A witty and funny look into human relationships, will have you laughing at the dark humour and crying at the injustice of the world.
  • The House in Norham Gardens, Penelope Lively - Rumoured to be about No.11 itself which is where are Benet's freshers live for the first year! A nice little link to Oxford
  • After, Anna Todd - Easily the best book here: based on a watt pad series and recently turned into an excellent series of films. If you want trash then look no further! Think 50 Shades but for teenagers, true nonsense but something nice and light that you don't have to concentrate too much on.
  • Silas Marner, George Eliot - An absolute classic about the evils of greed and the beauty that comes with letting love int your life
  • Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte - A classic as well, will surely keep you up all night even if you know the story! Will the two lovers end up together after all their hardships!?
As well as some heavier reading, here are a few shorter reads, and listens, for the soul:
I'm also trying to carry on with uni work because despite the lockdown it seems St Benet's is still going ahead with collections. But let me know your suggestions! I'm always on the lookout for new reads
